Matera has deleted the tweets, but according to the main Argentine newspaper The nation, one relates to a previous tour of South Africa.

According to the newspaper, the tweet read: ‘SUDAFRICA BABY! At last I’m leaving this country full of blacks. OUCH! ‘

This translates to: ‘South Africa, baby! I’m finally leaving this country full of blacks. Oh!’

This could be related to when Matera was part of the Pampas XV squad that participated in the Vodacom Cup between 2010 and 2013, while he was also involved in the Argentina U20 team that played in South Africa in 2012.

Another translation of a racist tweet from 2012 is believed to read: ‘Good day to go out in the car to step on blacks’, while making xenophobic comments about Bolivians and Paraguayans.

Matera posted an apology on her Instagram account.
