It is a trust that has approached the Premier Soccer League (PSL) to buy the Bidvest Wits Premiership franchise, and not Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) owner Masala Mulaudzi, PSL President Irvin Khoza said.
Khoza was asked in a press conference to clarify what the PSL’s official position is on the agreement for the sale of the 99-year-old club Wits, and at what point in the discussions is the ratification of the matter in the league.
The PSL president was also asked about possible complications that could arise from GladAfrica Championship team Tshakuma qualifying for the promotion / relegation playoffs, so there is a real possibility of entering the Premier Division as well. the next season.
“In Tshakuma, what I know is that there is a trust that bought a club, they brought it to us for consideration,” Khoza said.
“So that trust was the one that made a request for the acquisition of a new status in the Premier Division.”
Mulaudzi, in multiple media interviews, declared himself the new owner of Wits, saying that he will transfer the team to Thohoyandou in Limpopo and rename it from TTM next season.
Khoza noted that this would go against the rules of the NSL (National Football League) Manual, which states that a club owner cannot purchase another club’s franchise within a 12-month period after owning a club. a team.
“Let me explain this: in terms of the PSL rules, no member of a club this season may acquire shares directly or indirectly from another club in a 12-month period,” Khoza said.
“That’s why I say that I want him to be technical, but be honest about what we are represented as an executive committee.
“… This, we made it clear that it was a trust that came and made a request. If it’s Mr. Tshakuma [Mulaudzi], must be explained. Because I can’t answer for that. “
