Another 11 people have died from Covid-19-related illnesses in the Western Cape, Prime Minister Alan Winde said on Saturday.
As of 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, the province had registered 4,080 active cases, with 104,862 confirmed cases and 96,921 recoveries.
“More than 92% of the registered people who contracted Covid-19 in the Western Cape have recovered from their illness,” Winde added.
Just under 4% of all cases are active.
The province’s “hotspot” programs continue and people are urged to continue washing their hands, wearing a mask and social distance.
He said most of the recoveries were at home.
“Others have recovered at one of our health centers and we have seen and heard amazing stories of recovery.
“This includes a 104-year-old patient discharged from the Hospital of Hope, now off duty, at the Cape Town International Convention Center,” Winde added.
