A Western Cape man was arrested after drugs valued at R570,000 were seized from his home in George on Thursday night.

In a statement Friday, police said they raided the man’s home in Thembalethu as part of their more secure holiday season operations on the Garden Route.

“Members of the Public Order Police, Criminal Intelligence, Provincial Detectives (Narcotics Section) and the Eden Cluster Crime Fighting Team descended on a drug sale point. A search was conducted at the facility when members found large plastic containers with dagga hidden inside. Police seized 71 kilograms of dagga packed in 1 kg vacuum packs and 10 kg packages ready for delivery or collection, “said police spokesman, the Sergeant Chris Spies.

The 48-year-old man was charged with drug trafficking and was expected to appear in Thembalethu Magistrates Court on Monday.
