The South African Meteorological Service has warned that disruptive snowfall is expected in upper areas of the Western Cape, Northern Cape and Eastern Cape starting Thursday.
The intense cold front associated with a top cut low pressure system is expected to bring cold conditions later to Gauteng.
“The public and small ranchers are warned that snowfall, high winds, heavy rain, flooding, and very cold conditions can be expected.
“Disruptive snowfall can be expected in upper areas of the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Northern Cape from Thursday night through Friday,” said one forecaster.
Most of the country is experiencing windy and cold conditions as a result of the low pressure shutoff system expected to make landfall.
“This system also carries the potential for heavy rain, severe thunderstorms, and strong winds to hurricanes in some places. A low pressure cut-off system has started to develop in the southwest of the country today, resulting in scattered or scattered rains and thunderstorms in the central and southern parts of the country, ”the meteorologist said Tuesday.
