“The most important thing about soccer is to play a game every two or three days,” says coach Gavin Hunt as he looks ahead to the Kaizer Chiefs DStv Premiership game against TS Galaxy tonight. “The best thing is not to wait another week after a win or a loss, we have to play. It is the life of any footballer. I don’t want to talk about the previous game because today’s game is more important. Obviously, we have to improve because we have to move up the rankings.
“The TS Galaxy are a good team. There are no easy prey in the Premiership. They have curdled and brought together a couple of good players. So it’s not going to be an easy game. The opportunity is there again to win the match. Obviously we don’t have a great squad, so the main thing now is to get the players who played the role last season back on track. We all know that one of them, Samir Nurković, is not in the squad and it is a serious blow for us. He scored a lot of goals last season and you can see that we already have a challenge in that area.
“Tower (Erick Mathoho) was injured. We have to get him in shape again. We need to do the same with Katsande. They are the backbone of the team. Keletso Sifama is out due to injury, which leaves a gap in our attacking options ”.
Kaizer Chiefs will play TS Galaxy (which has acquired Highlands Park status) for the first time in the DStv Premiership.
“Every game is a new challenge,” concludes Hunt. “I don’t look at the previous records. As you saw over the weekend, we beat the Pirates three times last season, but look what happened on Saturday, they beat us. You look at that result and wonder if it was a true reflection of the game.
“Galaxy has ex-Highlands Park players who give them a little bit of steel and energetic players from the Galaxy itself, so it’s going to be an interesting game.”
Defender Kgotso Moleko is returning from injury and is available for this game.
The start is at 19:30 at the FNB stadium. The game will be screened live on SuperSport Channel 202 and live commentary will be broadcast on various SABC radio stations.
