CAPE TOWN – Western Cape’s new traffic chief faces charges of sexual harassment.
A co-worker in the provincial traffic department filed the complaint against Acting Director Farrel Payne.
He took office after the stalwart Kenny Africa stepped down in late July.
Transport MEC Bonginkosi Madikizela said it was aware of the allegations: “When I read it, I mean it was serious, I had a conversation with my HOD, who immediately took care of it and we will be conducting an independent investigation.”
Madikizela explained how the issue was being addressed: “I want to emphasize that she is independent. I don’t want this to be an internal investigation, it must be an independent investigation outside the department for the conclusion to be credible. “
