CAPE TOWN – The country’s international borders reopened on Thursday.

However, a travel ban remains in effect for leisure travelers from 57 countries considered high risk in terms of COVID-19.

Countries on the high-risk list include the UK, the US, India, Russia, France, and the Netherlands.

However, business visitors, diplomats, and highly qualified visa holders from these identified countries will be allowed to enter.

Western Cape Prime Minister Alan Winde said that while he welcomed the move, they are of the opinion that all travelers should be able to enter.

“If you have the proper protocols, you should be able to travel. That means you have the proper testing, you have the system in place to handle the additional spread.

International Relations Minister Naledi Pandor said the list was drawn up according to the criteria of the World Health Organization and would be reviewed every two weeks, taking into account changes in infection and death rates around the world. .
