Wayde van niekerk He made an emphatic return to international athletics Tuesday night by winning the 400-meter event at the Gala dei Castelli in Switzerland.
Van Niekerk, running in lane 4, came home at 45.58 ahead of Joachem Dobber of the Netherlands (45.78) and Karel Zalewski of Poland (46.03).

This was Van Niekerk’s first international start in more than three years and it begins his quest to run less than 43 seconds in the 400 meters.
In April, in an interview with the Olympic channel, Van Niekerk confirmed that going below 43 seconds was one of his main objectives.
“I’m hungrier than before. I still think I can go below 43. I can do much better than I am at 100 and 200 meters, that’s where my mind was before the injury and that’s where my mind is to stop. the future, “” Van Niekerk said during the interview.
