MUSINE – There is great concern as thousands of people wait to pass through the Beitbridge border post into South Africa.
Large crowds with little to no social distancing, false COVID-19 test results, several confirmed positive cases, and dehydration in seemingly endless queues are elements of the complex mix of problems facing authorities at the Beitbridge border post.

Some people have been trying to cross the border for days.
Border security has been strengthened.
Zimbabwe is currently under a strict 30-day lockdown.

One traveler shared that he had been at the border for three days.
“I was in the car since Monday, then I left the car outside and had to walk here on foot. The papers are about to expire, the one from where they tested us [for COVID-19]. “
He said the delays mean he has missed days of work in South Africa.
