Tuesday Big Bash League (BBL) The action spawned a shocking arbitration decision that has intensified DRS ‘requests from the competition.

The incident took place in the game between the Perth Scorchers and the Sydney Thunder.

With the Thunder chasing 153 for victory, the Scorchers thought they had fired starter Usman Khawaja with Andrew Tye’s first ball of the sixth change.

Having entered the road, Khawaja instead approached the goalkeeper and the sound was heard by everyone on the field.

However, to Tye’s disbelief, referee Simon Lightbody gave the “no-go” decision, explaining that he thought the noise had been generated by Khawaja’s bat hitting the ground.

The decision sparked an understandable backlash on social media, with players and fans calling for the tournament to start making use of DRS technology to prevent such howls.
