What good is VAR if wrong decisions are not going to be rectified?
There are always a number of issues with the VAR, never a weekend goes by where the VAR is not at the center of a major controversy or topic of conversation, and once again this weekend it was at the center of a major Topic, but this time, the focus was on Arsenal.
A perfect start for our boys with a Lacazette goal from a corner was quickly annihilated by the referee and referees.
Questions were raised and continue to be raised about why. Some say it was due to an offside position and others say Xhaka was deemed to be at fault because he was obstructing the goalkeepers’ view. If Xhaka was obstructing the view, when he was next to Kasper Schmeichel, then I seriously believe that these referees and officials need to take a trip to Specsavers.
If Xhaka had been in front of Schmeichel and had made contact with the ball when it came out of Lacazette’s boot, then I would be sitting here saying that we have no right to argue, but once again the decision has divided opinion, leaning more towards him. done. that the goal should have been maintained and there is a clear lack of communication and understanding of what is considered an obstacle and what is not.
Aside from the goal, there were also a number of tackles that could have been considered a red card instead of a yellow, but of course when it’s against Arsenal, we don’t get any of those right decisions.
If VAR isn’t going to be used the way it was intended, I think I should ditch it and get the old kind of games back into play. Because like this, every team that is on the negative side of VAR is being robbed of winning games that they deserved to win.
