ENCA Managing Editor John Bailey confirmed News24’s resignation and said there was nothing else outside of the statement the broadcaster would say at this time.

“It’s an employer, employee issue and we respect the employee,” Bailey said.

In February of last year, Maggs stepped down as the station’s editor-in-chief after serving 12 months.

“I have been stressed and ill for some time and made this decision in my own interest and that of the station,” Maggs said in a joint statement with eMedia at the time.

Maggs could not immediately be reached for comment.
