JOHANNESBURG – The abductors of a six-year-old Vanderbijlpark girl have received suspended sentences, meaning they will spend between five and 10 years in jail.

Last year, the girl was kidnapped by two men outside her school when they were leaving her.

It later emerged that the plan was carefully planned by a former professor who owed money to drug traffickers.

Tharina Human has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, while her co-defendant Laetitia Nel will spend five years behind bars.

His co-defendant, Bafokeng Molemohi, will spend seven years behind bars, while Jacobus van Zyl will go to jail for eight years.

Human’s attorney, David Mey, said they all pleaded guilty to the kidnapping charges when they appeared in Palm Ridge Superior Court Thursday.

“We are relieved that this is over and done; which is finished. She can start with prayer now and can move on. “

READY TO BE REHABILITATED

Human’s attorney said she was pleased with her effective 10-year sentence and wants to move on with her life.

Tharina Human was sentenced to 15 years in prison, of which five have been suspended for kidnapping and threatening the girl’s father when he tried to extort R2 million from him last year.

Human will now begin serving his sentence along with his three co-defendants.

Mey said Human is ready to start a new journey to be rehabilitated.

“She is going to study in jail and when the time comes, she would also like to have a conversation with the parents. I think we’re just going to wait for rehab. “

Mey said her client has shown remorse and wants to do something with her life.
