To ratify the agreement, the British Parliament was summoned to meet on December 30. A vote in favor is virtually assured after the UK’s main opposition party, the Labor Party, said its MPs would back it.

LONDON – Britain and the European Union (EU) published on Saturday the full text of the post-Brexit trade deal aimed at regulating their relationship when the UK definitively leaves the bloc’s single market in just five days.

The document, which is over 1,200 pages long, details trade, law enforcement and dispute resolution, among other deals between Britain and the EU after the UK left the single market and customs union on 31 from December.

In the foreword to the copy of the text published by the British government, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the agreement had been “carefully judged to benefit all” and preserve “free trade for millions of people in the UK and elsewhere. All Europe”.

“While we made our fair share of commitments during the negotiations, we never wavered in the goal of restoring national sovereignty,” he added.

UK Government Minister Michael Gove wrote in The Times newspaper that Thursday’s deal would allow Britain to bring “innovation and investment to parts of the country that have suffered economic decline.”

He added that there are still “significant changes” for which companies must prepare in the short term.

To ratify the agreement, the British Parliament was summoned to meet on December 30. A vote in favor is practically guaranteed after the UK’s main opposition party, the Labor Party, said its MPs would back it.

In Brussels, the European Commission has proposed that the agreement be applied provisionally until February 28.

The European Parliament will be asked for its consent to the deal in 2021 and for the process to conclude, the Council, which brings together executives from the 27 member states, must make the decision.
