Uber has announced that its new monthly Uber Pass plan is now available in South Africa, offering savings on the Uber and Uber Eats platforms.

South Africa is the first market in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region to receive this offer, Uber said.

“For anyone who relies on Uber to get around their city or to have local favorites delivered to their doorstep, the Uber Pass is available nationwide for customers in cities like Port Elizabeth, Johannesburg, Cape Town, East London and Durban. “Uber said.

“This monthly plan unlocks savings on Uber rides, Eats delivery and grocery orders through an all-in-one benefits package.”

The Uber Pass plan is priced at R99.99 per month and includes the following:

  • 10% discount on 45 UberX, XL, Connect and Go rides up to a maximum of 45 rides in total per month
  • 15% discount on Uber Black and Van up to a maximum of 45 total rides per month
  • Free delivery and 5% discount on the total basket on Eats orders (including groceries) over R80 or more up to a maximum of 30 deliveries per month, when available

If you live in a city where it is available, you will see Uber Pass in the menu of your Uber app.

The pass is automatically renewed every month and you can cancel it at any time.

New interface and group orders

Uber said it has launched its new Uber Eats user interface this month, which introduces several new categories outside of food delivery.

“App shortcuts give users instant access to a variety of merchants including kitchen, toiletries, butchers, pet supplies, and other daily essentials,” said Uber.

Uber also said that group orders are expected to launch later this year, allowing users to order from multiple restaurants in a single order.

“Whether you’re a parent juggling a hungry mouth at home or a commuter returning to the office, the world you use Uber in has evolved rapidly and unprecedentedly,” said Uber’s Africa CEO. Saharan, Frans Hiemstra.

“As part of our response, we have redoubled our efforts to ensure that access to your daily needs is smoother than ever.”

“Wherever you need to go, and for all meals in between, we are committed to helping you save time, stay on budget, and unlock more flexibility on our platform,” Hiemstra said.
