Two senior Hawks officials and a former officer were arrested Tuesday on fraud and corruption charges related to appointments made at the specialized unit.
Hawks spokesman Col. Katlego Mogale said the members, stationed at his Silverton office, had been implicated in improper promotional appointments.
“Members of the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation, in their quest to rid the organization of those members who are unwilling to be blameless, executed arrest warrants for superior officers and the former officer who allegedly abused their power. and authority while serving as members of the selection panels within the DPCI. ”
Mogale said the investigation began when irregularities were discovered at the Northwest DPCI office that requested the investigation.
He said the investigation spread to all provinces.
The suspects, aged 48, 55 and 57, are expected to appear soon in the Pretoria Commercial Crimes Court.
