England have six upcoming games starting with the No Limit Quilter Cup against the Barbarians on October 25.

After a trip to Rome to face Italy (October 31) in the final round of the delayed Six Nations 2020, England will play four games as part of the Fall Nations Cup.

The 28-man squad is largely a first draft, with no players involved from the Exeter Chiefs, Wasps, Bristol Bears, Bath, Sale Sharks and Worcester Warriors, who are still involved in Premiership games.

An updated team will be confirmed before England’s next training camp from Thursday 15th to Saturday 17th October.

There are two South African-born players among the 12 who have received their first calls: Harlequins tight-headed mainstay Simon Kerrod and Northampton Saints lockout David Ribbans.

Kerrod, 28, began his career with the Sharks and also represented the Southern Kings and Border Bulldogs before moving to England with the Jersey Reds.

The 25-year-old Somerset West-raised Ribbans came with Western Province, representing them at the U19, U21 and Currie Cup levels, but chose to move to Northampton in 2017 after failing to make the Stormers team.

A host of Saracen players have also been named to the squad, including England captain Owen Farrell, number 8 Billy Vunipola and padlock Maro Itoje.

“Our preparation to build the team for the Italy game starts now,” England coach Eddie Jones said. ‘We have a three-day camp this week and another next week, then we are in the week of our Quilter Cup match against the Barbarians. We will build little by little, working on the basics and working on team cohesion.

“We are excited to be back together in camp representing England. This fall we want to play for the fans and give them something to smile about. “
