Two people died and two others were seriously injured when two vehicles collided on the R28 in Westonaria, Gauteng.

Van Huyssteen said that when the ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 23:00, the provincial medical emergency services were already present.

Upon further evaluation, paramedics found two people who had suffered fatal injuries.

“Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them and they were pronounced dead at the scene. Four others were found to have sustained serious injuries. They were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by ER24 and GPG,” Van Huyssteen said.

Three other people were found walking at the scene, but they refused to be transported to the hospital.

“Our paramedics are unaware of the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, but local authorities were on the scene to conduct further investigations,” Van Huyssteen said.
