Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of Pofadder hotelier Leon Brits.

Police spokesman Brigadier Mohale Ramatseba said a 37-year-old man was arrested in Piketberg in the Western Cape, and a 34-year-old suspect was arrested in Kathu.

The British owned a hotel in Pofadder and were stabbed to death on 7 October.

His body was found floating in a pool.

Apparently the British had told his brother that some of the staff were robbing the hotel kitchen.

A friend of the family said Brits appeared to have been strangled with a dog chain and dragged into the pool.

Northern Cape FF Plus leader Wynand Boshoff said the killing had shocked the mostly peaceful region.

A team, which included the Provincial Organized Crime, the Priority Crime Investigation Directorate (Hawks), and detectives from Pofadder and Springbok arrested the two suspects.

They are expected to appear in court on Monday.
