President Donald Trump’s campaign filed a petition Tuesday challenging the results of Wisconsin’s presidential vote before the state’s supreme court, the latest attempt to reverse the Nov. 3 election won by Democrat Joe Biden.
The petition alleges that election officials were ordered to fill in missing information in the ballot envelopes, cast absentee ballots without receiving requests, and allowed individuals to wrongly claim “confined” absentee voting status.
The petition, filed on behalf of Trump, his campaign and U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, also questions voting events at locations in the city outside of polling stations, according to court documents.
The petition alleges that 221,323 absentee ballots were incorrectly filed. Biden outpointed Trump in Wisconsin by about 20,000 votes.
The Trump campaign and its supporters have filed lawsuits against Biden’s victories in Arizona, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan and Nevada, so far without success.
On Monday, Wisconsin certified Biden as the state winner, further softening the Trump campaign’s risky gamble to reverse the results. The campaign seeks the withdrawal of that certification.
