Lizo Madukane (35) and Thembelani Majola (28) have remained in custody until 12 January.
The two men who allegedly killed three people at the Hoegelee farm in Bishopstowe near Pietermaritzburg will spend Christmas and New Years in jail.
Lizo Madukane (35) and Thembelani Majola (28) briefly appeared at the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.

They are accused of the murders of Danie de Bruin (58), manager of the estate, his wife Glynis (60) and his father-in-law, Colin Schwegman (87). They were attacked with knives Monday night.
They are also charged with aggravated robbery.

Both men told the court that they have no prior convictions or pending cases.
They will appear in court again on January 12.
