Tributes arrive at UDM’s Mncedisi Filtane after succumbing to Covid-19

UDM National Vice President and member of the Eastern Cape legislature, Mncedisi Filtane, died Sunday morning from complications from Covid-19.

He was admitted to hospital on Friday with low oxygen levels, said UDM leader Bantu Holomisa.

“We are terribly shocked by this loss as we try to comfort the Filtane family,” Holomisa said in a brief statement Sunday.

The district attorney expressed his condolences to Filtane’s family, friends and colleagues.

The district attorney said Filtane was a true gentleman and an outspoken member of the legislature.

“He was courteous in dealing with everyone and always made sure of strong discussions.

“He served with dedication and distinction and his presence will be missed both in the opposition pews and throughout the chamber,” said Eastern Cape Legislature District Attorney Bobby Stevenson.

EFF deputies Mbuyiseni Ndlozi and Floyd Shivambu also expressed their condolences to the Filtane family. Shivambu said that Filtane was a great asset to UDM and a committed, disciplined and focused public representative.

The leader of the Movement One SA, Mmusi Maimane, also expressed his condolences to the Filtane family.
