JOHANNESBURG – South Africa could see a further increase in Covid-19 cases at level one as more people come into contact with each other.

That is according to tl Professor of the National Institute of Communicable Diseases, Adrian Puren.

“As your society has opened up, more movement, more people who come into contact with each other, the more likely that infections and super-spreading events will occur. And also remember that asymptomatic spread is one of the main roots of spread, so it is critical that we maintain good control of what we are in with this particular epidemic in this particular phase … ”Puren said.

He says the government also needs to increase COVID-19 testing capacity.
