Motorists drive on flooded roads during heavy rains.
The most inclement weather will usher in October on Thursday, according to the South African Weather Service, as high winds, rain and the possibility of localized flooding and thunderstorms were forecast.
Impact-based warnings
– A yellow warning for wind is possible with localized damage to infrastructure in the southern part of the Namakwa district (North Cape) and Central Karoo (Western Cape).
– A yellow rain warning is expected with potential impacts, including localized flooding of susceptible settlements and roads over the Overberg and Garden Route (Western Cape) districts.
– A yellow warning is expected for waves with possible navigation difficulties and localized interruptions in beachfront activities between Cape Columbine and Plettenberg Bay.
– A yellow warning is expected for severe thunderstorms with possible flooding of susceptible low-lying areas, traffic disruption due to reduced visibility and damaging strong winds that may cause some damage to informal settlements above Pixley Ka-Seme Township in Mpumalanga, as well as in Zululand and Umkhanyakude Municipalities in KZN.
