JOHANNESBURG – The office of the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, said on Monday that her WhatsApp was hacked, leaving confidential information in the hands of a third party.
The minister’s department sent a statement confirming the violation.
“The WhatsApp account of the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, has been hacked, which has caused private and confidential information to be in the hands of a third party,” the department said in a tweet.

“Obtaining and distributing information that is obtained illegally is a crime and violators will be reported to legal authorities,” the statement read.
