JOHANNESBURG – The state capture commission has filed an urgent request in the Constitutional Court seeking an order to force former President Jacob Zuma to testify next year.

The commission’s secretary, Itumeleng Mosala, said that Zuma had been given two dates to appear in January and February next year.

She said she was served with the summons last week.

Zuma withdrew from the commission last month without the permission of Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo after Zondo told him he would not recuse himself.

The commission wants Zuma to be held accountable for his exercise of public power when he was president specifically on the issues the commission investigates.

He said that the Constitutional Court should force him to answer the questions that will be asked and not leave until he is excused by the president.
