Springbok captain Siya Kolisi A highly publicized departure from the western province is expected to be confirmed in the coming days, with the Sharks it remains your most likely destination.

The 29-year-old World Cup hero, who has been on the Western Province books since 2010, has been heavily linked with a move to Kings Park since American investors MVM Holdings acquired a majority stake in the franchise based in Durban in January.

The president of the international sports agency Roc Nation, Michael Yormark, is one of the investors in the MVM / Sharks deal and that’s where the Kolisi link comes from.

The Franchise Cup, a national tournament in which the Sharks, Stormers, Lions and Bulls prepare for their first Rainbow Cup against European PRO14 teams, is expected to begin on February 27.

It means that after the recently completed Currie Cup season, teams are starting to get back on track.

Western Province will resume training next week, but as Kolisi is expected to be in Durban before the Franchise Cup begins, it is likely that they will resume without his skipper.

Kolisi’s contract at WP was supposed to run until the end of October, but Sport24 You understand that WP is satisfied with the agreed terms that allow you to check out earlier.

Sport24 further understands that Sharks negotiations with Kolisi are ongoing.

Obviously they need to be completed before the sharks can make an official announcement, but they are hopeful that it will all work out.

This week it was reported that a R1 million fee would be paid to WP for Kolisi’s early release, but the Sharks have since denied that figure.

From captain of the Springboks to glory at the World Cup in Japan in 2019, Kolisi has become one of the most recognized figures in international sport.
