CAPE TOWN – Despite an exhaustive search by various entities, no sign has been found of a Cape Town teenager who disappeared while swimming in the sea in Melkbosstrand, north of Cape Town, on Sunday morning said the National Institute of Maritime Rescue (NSRI). .
NSRI Melkbosstrand’s on-call crew was activated at 11.55am after reports from Cape Town City law enforcement officers that they were at the scene where a male teenager, from Manenberg in Cape Town, disappeared in the waves while swimming at Ouskip in Melkbosstrand, NSRI spokesman Craig Lambinon said in a statement.
NSRI Melkbosstrand Guard Team and NSRI First Responders, Cape Town First Responders, Western Cape Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services, South African Police Service (SAPS), Melkbosstrand Neighborhood Watch , Cape Town disaster risk management, and All EMS / AMS Skymed rescue helicopters responded to join Cape Town police officers on the scene, he said.
Three sea rescue vessels were launched to join the search and lifeguards were deployed to the surf line to carry out online free immersion search efforts.
“Despite an extensive air, sea and coastal search, no trace remains of the teenager who disappeared in the waves while swimming with family members. A police dive unit is tasked with continuing an ongoing search operation. and they will be assisted by the services that are in service in the area.
