LONDON – The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released new photographs to celebrate the fifth birthday of their daughter, Princess Charlotte.
The couple’s second child turned five on Saturday and they posted four new photos to their Twitter account the day before and added a fifth photo on their birthday.
They wrote: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are excited to share four new photographs of Princess Charlotte before her fifth birthday tomorrow.
“The images were taken by The Duchess as the family helped pack and deliver food packages to isolated pensioners in the local area.”
On Saturday, a message on the couple’s Kensington Palace Twitter account added: “Thank you for all your adorable messages on Princess Charlotte’s fifth birthday!
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are excited to share a new photograph of Princess Charlotte, taken by the Duchess in April.”
All of the photos were taken by hobbyist amateur photographer Catherine and four of them showed Charlotte helping to pack homemade pasta and deliver food packages to isolated retirees near the family home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.
The entire family, including Prince William, 37, Duchess Catherine, 38, and their children, Prince George, 6, and Prince Louis, 2, helped Charlotte deliver the food packages, such as part of an initiative started by Queen Elizabeth’s staff at her Sandringham estate.
They spent two and a half hours driving to deliver food and a delighted resident told the Daily Mail newspaper: “They got soaked because it was raining but I think they just wanted to do their part.”
Meanwhile, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla wished the young man a happy birthday via Twitter, sharing one of Catherine’s photos and writing, “Wishing Princess Charlotte a very happy birthday.”
And a message in the official account of the royal family said: “A very happy birthday to Princess Charlotte, who is celebrating her fifth birthday today. Princess Charlotte is the Queen’s fifth great-grandson.
“To mark the day @KensingtonRoyal has released new photos of Princess Charlotte taken by the Duchess of Cambridge.”
