‘The people in the graves are excited,’ Malema tells his supporters outside the court

EFF leader Julius Malema said the policeman who accused him and MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi of assault should have been guided by the spirit of ubuntu.

Malema and Ndlozi have been accused of shoving the officer at Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s funeral.

“The police must be pressured because half the time they enter difficult areas, even where people get excited sometimes. Some are irrational. They don’t think correctly, ”Malema said.

He was speaking to his followers outside the Randburg Magistrates Court, where he and Ndlozi face a common battery charge.

“When a police officer is pushed into a situation like that, always understand that, as a law enforcement officer, you will find yourself in difficult situations. You have to be guided by the spirit of ubuntu from time to time and understand that when people are in graves they are emotional, ”Malema said.

Ndlozi and Malema’s case was postponed until October 28 and 29 for trial.

The two EFF leaders are accused of assaulting a police officer in 2018 at the funeral of the Madikizela-Mandela stalwart.

Meanwhile, Malema said the EFF would go on Friday to Senekal, Free State, where a violent protest erupted when two men appeared in court in connection with the murder of 21-year-old farm manager Brendin Horner. It’s also where a 52-year-old man was arrested for his role in the protest that set a police van on fire. The man was denied bail Tuesday.

“When you climb on top of a policeman, when you enter a court by violent means and enter a police station, you should know that you have declared war on the state and that the state would have to protect itself and its citizens,” Malema said.
