JOHANNESBURG – The Veterans League of the African National Congress (ANC) described former President Jacob Zuma’s letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa as extraordinary, unprecedented and deeply disturbing.
Zuma wrote the letter and accused Ramaphosa’s approach to corruption as flawed, adding that it served to destroy the ANC.
The former president was reacting to the letter from the current acting chairman of the party, where he criticized members of the ANC who were implicated in corruption, especially in the wake of allegations of corruption during the COVID-19 acquisition processes.
Zuma also said that Ramaphosa tried to save his own hide while painting the entire party as corrupt.
The Veterans League said the former leader abused the urgent and important issue of the fight against corruption to disguise his strategic objective, which was the capture of the ANC.
The league added that its movement must respect and implement the resolution adopted at the party conference to publicly disassociate itself from any accused or reported of involvement in corruption.
