Suzuki has revealed its new Swace property in Europe, the latest product of the Japanese firm’s “commercial partnership agreement” with Toyota.

Yes, the Swace is effectively a rebadged Corolla Touring Sports (what Toyota calls the estate version of its Corolla).

The Swace is the second vehicle Toyota has supplied to Suzuki in Europe, following the unveiling of the RAV4-based Across in July.

Like the Corolla line on that continent, the Swace will feature a hybrid powertrain comprising a 1.8-liter gasoline engine, an electric motor and a continuously variable transmission. The combustion mill delivers 72 kW and 142 Nm to the front axle, while the electric motor brings 53 kW and 163 Nm to the party.

Suzuki (or Toyota?) Says the result is a sprint from zero to 100 km / h in 11.1 seconds and a top speed of 180 km / h.

Inside, you’ll find an eight-inch family infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while an optional wireless charging pad will be offered for the front console. The Swace also inherits a trunk capable of swallowing 596 liters (or 1232 liters with the rear bench folded down).

While we don’t expect the Swace to hit markets outside of Europe, a similar approach will soon be taken here in South Africa, with Toyota set to launch the new Baleno-based Starlet hatchback in late September.
