JOHANNESBURG – The family of murdered Captain Bafana Bafana, Senzo Meyiwa, is expected to file a criminal complaint with the police after his tombstone was smashed.

The monument was damaged just two months after its unveiling at the Mayville Heroes Acre in Durban.

The national soccer team posted photos of the damage to the cemetery on its Twitter page.

The Meyiwa family said they were disappointed and wanted those responsible to be accounted for.

The footballer was shot and killed in October 2014 at the home of his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo in Vosloorus in East Rand.
