The Kaizer Chiefs have built a strong technical team – Motaung

The 75-year-old boss has pledged his support for Amakhosi’s new coaches as he feels they have the potential to be successful.

Kaizer Chiefs President Kaizer Motaung believes that management has done everything possible to build a strong technical team this season.

This follows the appointment of Dillon Sheppard and Arthur Zwane as assistants to Gavin Hunt for the next three years.

Motaung promised that the trio will receive all the necessary support to make their tenure a success.

“We believe that we have built a strong technical team and we will give them all the necessary support they require,” Motaung told the Kings website.

Zwane has been a coach for the past nine years, while Sheppard only became a mentor three years ago, but they have a leader on the coaching team as Hunt has been in coaching circles for nearly three decades.

And Motaung said the 2019-20 league runners-up needed these three South African-born coaches to be competitive and stronger.

“The great experience between the three gentlemen is what we need to make sure we compete and build a strong team,” he said.

Additionally, Motaung confirmed that both Sheppard and Zwane will work as Hunt’s assistants and double as coaches for the club’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) team.

Zwane had been in the position since the inception of the MDC league, while Sheppard was also in charge of the Bidvest Wits MDC team before the club sold its PSL status, and ‘Chincha Guluva’ is confident that the transition from development to Senior team be smooth.

“The fact that Arthur and Dillon will work simultaneously with the senior team and with our reserve team means that the transition from young players to the first team will be easier,” the 75-year-old soccer manager continued.

“We have a lot of talent.”

While the goal is to nurture the talent of the reserve team using the experience of Sheppard and Zwane, Motaung said getting positive results is also important.

“However, they will need care while we too must focus on winning. Both assistant coaches have youth soccer experience and we believe they will continue to share their knowledge with our other youth coaches and players,” concluded Motaung.
