JOHANNESBURG – The political future of several leaders of the African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng is still unclear as the party’s provincial executive meeting debates the best way to respond to those facing corruption allegations.

The provincial executive committee (PEC) is meeting this weekend to consider an integrity commission report related to a multi-million dollar tender for personal protective equipment (PPE).

The commission found that Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku did not practice adequate oversight of the PPE contracts awarded by the department.

Masuku, his wife Loyiso and the husband of presidential spokesperson Khusela Diko were also implicated in an alleged fraudulently awarded tender.

While the stakes are high, at least one analyst believes that not much will come of this meeting.

The ANC in Gauteng will meet to discuss various issues over the weekend.

Topping the agenda is the consideration of the report by the provincial integrity commission on the R125 million PPE tender.

It is understood that the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) made convictions against Masuku, his wife Loyiso and Diko.

Political analyst professor Lesiba Teffo said nothing can be expected from the deliberations.

“It is difficult to make a firm decision that is not perceived as fractional. Perhaps, depending on one’s faction, one could fall or one could get up. “

Masuku is reported to have written a letter to the photo objecting to their findings saying that, in his opinion, the findings do not take into account the facts presented to the PIC.
