JOHANNESBURG – Former President Jacob Zuma’s attorney said that before he was expected to return to the state’s capture commission of inquiry, they wanted Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo’s request to recuse himself resolved.

Zuma’s attorney, Eric Mabuza, said Eyewitness news that plans for a request for Zondo to recuse himself from dealing with the former commission leader were still in the pipeline.

Zondo previously issued a subpoena against Zuma, ordering the former president to return to the commission in November.

While some have called Zondo’s decision to bring Zuma before the state’s arrest investigation a major victory, the former leader’s attorney said it wasn’t that simple.

Mabuza said an application had yet to be filed with Zondo to convince him that he was not the best person to chair the commission.

Zuma had previously claimed that there was a conflict of interest in this regard.

Previously, Zondo expressed his frustration at dealing with the matter.

“It seems like I’m not supposed to ask you to come. I’m not supposed to authorize the issuance of a subpoena to force him to come. “

Meanwhile, on Friday Zuma supporters in Gauteng marched in defense of the former leader, claiming that Zondo was against him.
