The Bushiris did not use any of their 10 passports to flee South Africa, Motsoaledi told MPs
They also received no help from the President of Malawi, Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi told MPs Wednesday morning after the shameful escape last week of Pastor Shepherd Bushiri and his wife, Mary.

CAPE TOWN – Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi said the fugitive Bushiri couple did not sneak out of the country with any of their 10 passports.
They also received no help from the President of Malawi, Motsoaledi told MPs Wednesday morning after the shameful escape last week of Pastor Shepherd Bushiri and his wife, Mary.
“I must emphasize that Mr. Bushiri has five passports. None of them are South African. All were issued in Malawi. We have their passport numbers. Ms. Bushiri has five passports.”
They are due to appear in Pretoria court on Thursday to face charges of fraud, theft and money laundering.
The couple’s bail has now been revoked and they also face losing their home in South Africa.
Asnathi Molekwa, a deputy for the African National Congress (ANC) on the Internal Affairs portfolio committee, said all involved government departments should be investigated.
“I think it is very suspicious due to the fact that Bushiri cannot just leave the country without a trace. This represents a very serious security risk in the country.”
