The Vodacom Bulls have confirmed the signing of Springbok utility Gio Aplon, who will join the Japan team as soon as he can travel to South Africa.

Aplon previously traded in South Africa for the Western Province and the Stormers from 2005 to 2014, before moving to the French Top 14 club Grenoble.

As the Bulls’ new rugby manager Jake White continues to build his squad, Aplon will join them in June or as soon as he can travel to South Africa.

White is well known for having held Aplon in high esteem since Bok’s former coach worked in Montpellier in France, while the 37-year-old utility company also played under White’s tutelage in Japan.

Vo The Vodacom Bulls have always been a formidable force in the world of rugby. I have always had great respect for the brand and what it has accomplished, and I am really looking forward to running in Loftus, “said Aplon.” Coach Jake has an incredible vision and plan for the team, and I am honored that he wants me as part of him. “

Aplon has 17 test caps to his name, and despite a retirement from the Springbok team in 2018, he last played an international match in 2012.
