The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have had a rather tumultuous start until 2020.

After announcing their desire to resign as high-ranking members of the royal firm in January after a long battle in the limelight, the couple received much criticism for their decision, which ultimately ended in the queen stripping them of their titles and essentially had them stray completely from the royal family.

The unprecedented decision resulted in a move to Canada, previously the couple settled in Los Angeles – and now, in a new biography, real reporters, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand will tell their story on Seeking Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Creation of a Modern Royal Family.

Speaking about the book that has been in the works for two years, Omid said in The heir pod podcast that “there have been twists and turns that nobody expected”.

“This is something that no one expected,” he said.

“I don’t even think Harry and Meghan, who on their own, struggled with the reality of the situation, expected things to turn out the way they did.”

Omid insists that the biography will be the “definitive version” of what happened.

“I have been in as many engagements and around them as much as I can, and have spoken to as many people in their lives, so no stone has been left unturned,” he said.

“I have seen the couple remain true to their own beliefs and stand firm in the face of the adversities that have been publicly manifested in the press, and I would like to think that this tells the definitive version of their lives together.”

The book will hit stores on August 11.
