Telkom has partnered with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) to launch a new broadcast channel, TelkomONE. The mobile operator’s channel will host the free radio and television channels of the public broadcaster.

The new service will broadcast live SABC’s television channels 1, 2, Sports and Education, as well as SABC’s 19 radio stations under a five-year partnership.

“We are excited about the opportunity to give South Africans free access to watch their favorite SABC content, online, whenever and wherever they want,” said Telkom Group CEO Sipho Maseko.

“TelkomONE will make it possible for subscribers to pause, go back to the program guide (time change) and instantly watch a scheduled TV show that they may have missed. Telkom is making digital television functionality available to everyone. “

SABC will provide your content to Telkom on a non-exclusive basis. In return, SABC will receive a transportation license fee, as well as a share of the advertising revenue generated on the TelkomONE platform.

Customers can browse the catalog and sign up for free to access ‘in-house’ content that has a mix of news, inspiration and entertainment channels (SABC TV and audio channels, Africa News, France 24, Hope Channel, SBN, etc.)

They can also subscribe or subscribe to AMP subscription packages which include music, short films, TV series plus the free content by default upon registration.
