Talking about the title is for others, not for Solskjaer’s United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Thursday talk about United manchester winning his first Premier league title from 2013 will remain out of bounds between him and his players.

The 47-year-old Norwegian is now being praised after leading United to third in the table, five points behind leaders Liverpool, after being favorite for the sack earlier in the season.

United could move to second place if they beat Leicester, which currently holds that spot, on Saturday.

Solskjaer takes them to the Foxes after reaching the semi-finals of the League Cup, where they will face reigning champions Manchester City.

“There is noise around Man Utd anyway, so for us it’s about improving as a team, taking one game at a time, and we have to do it, that’s the name of the game,” Solskjaer said when asked about title.

“That’s the only way you’re going to challenge anything at the end of the season anyway, so it’s not something we talk about.”

Solskjaer, who led United to three semifinals last season, said being congratulated added another factor that he and the players must deal with.

“The only thing we talk about and what we focus on is improving day by day and learning, and how to deal with certain situations,” he said.

“Maybe right now right now we are getting accolades and that’s something else to learn to deal with.”

However, Solskjaer said Wednesday’s League Cup win over Everton was priceless for morale.

“Every time you win a match, you get energy and it increases your morale and your faith,” said Solskjaer.

“The results engender good spirit and humor and engender confidence.”

United’s ability to compete for the title has been built on their excellent road record, having won all six games.

However, they have had to come from behind each time and Solskjaer knows that they cannot continue to do so.

“It will catch up with you if you give the teams an advantage,” he said.

“Leicester are one of those teams that you definitely don’t want to give a one or two goal advantage to because they have so many players in transition that you can easily concede two or three or four.”

Solskjaer can cheer up on United’s most recent visit to Leicester on the final day of last season when they beat them 2-0.

“They are a very good team with a very good coach and I have enjoyed watching them with Brendan (Rodgers),” he said.

“It was a great test for us to go to their stadium in the summer and we passed it with great success.

“We played a controlled game, but I know it won’t be the same now because it’s a different time of the season and they have some threats to look for.”
