Former captain of Proteas AB de Villiers has shed some light on his relationship with the patron saint of India Virat Kohli.
During a SuperSport presenter live Instagram chat with Pommie Mbangwa This week, De Villiers revealed how his relationship with his IPL teammate is “much deeper” than his interactions on the cricket ground.
“It is much deeper than just a cricket player. I think most people realize after a while that there is more to life than just cricket,” said De Villiers.
“I think we all fell into that bubble initially. But Virat has always been a thinker, he experiments with a lot of things, he loves trying new things, as for the gym, what he gets into his mouth.”
“Think a lot about life after life: what is to come, the different religions, we talk about everything.”
De Villiers and Kohli’s relationship really stood out during their time together at Royal Challengers Bangalore, and their families have been photographed spending time together on more than one occasion.
“We are going pretty deep and your mistress too, Anushka, we have very deep conversations, which is fantastic,” De Villiers continued.
“We are talking about children and family. We are waiting for the first little Kohli to arrive.
“It is a good friendship and we always find a way to talk about cricket as well, but 90% of the time we talk about other things.”
“It is refreshing and you are in the middle of a very intense IPL tournament.”
