DURBAN – A senior official and three vendors linked to alleged corruption in the office of KwaZulu-Natal Prime Minister Sihle Zikalala were released on bail on Friday.
The supply chain manager in the prime minister’s office, Nonhlanhla Hlongwa, was among them.
Hlongwa was released on bail of 5,000 rand after appearing in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court on fraud and corruption charges linked to a 2013 catering tender worth 20 million rand.

The service provider Ntombimpela Majozi was released on bail of 20,000 rand, while the other two accused providers, Ashley Rose and Nompumelelo Motaung, were released on bail of 10,000 rand each.
“They have briefly appeared in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court and their case has been postponed until April 30, 2021,” said Simphiwe Mhlongo, spokesperson for Hawks KZN.
Five others who were arrested in the first Hawks raid. Among them were Zikalala’s personal assistant, Nomusa Zakwe, and the chief financial officer in charge of Cibane.
