Stats back up Marcus Rashford’s great player tag

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has his fair share of critics, but one thing he can’t be blamed for is disappearing during a big game.

One of the reasons some fans wanted Romelu Lukaku to leave Old Trafford, despite his obvious scoring record, was because of his tendency to not show up when it was most needed, or at least that was the opinion.

Some of the fair criticism leveled at Rashford has been his decision-making and occasionally his shooting.

The problems with both are quite specific and not general, like the problem with his decision making usually only when United is against him and the problem with his shot is how he sometimes chooses the wrong technique.

However, statistics show that he has an invaluable trait which is the ability to appear in the matches that matter and not only score goals, but also count some assists.

Rashford was rightly praised for his role in Manchester United’s recent brilliant victory over PSG as he rose to the mark once again to score the winning goal at the end.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking on Frank Lampard once more this weekend, there is even more desire for a win.

Not just so the legendary Norwegian could outmaneuver his opponent, but so United could end up with the tag hanging over their heads when it came to their lack of consistency.

The transfer window this summer has been one of the strangest in living memory. So remember the less stressful days and test your knowledge of past United arrivals and departures in our quiz below.
