The South African international joined Steven Gerrard’s team on a one-season loan on the day of the transfer deadline in October.
Bongani Zungu said he feels lucky to play for Rangers and his experience in the Scottish Premiership has been incredible.
The 28-year-old secured a temporary transfer to the Ibrox Stadium in pursuit of top-notch football after Amiens’s relegation from Ligue 1 last season.
Although a league game has yet to start for Gers, the Bafana Bafana midfielder has made six Premiership appearances and also made his UEFA Europa League debut earlier this month, against Standard Liege.
Zungu recounted his experience at Ibrox Stadium to the Rangers Matchday Program through Glasgow Times: “It has been incredible. I’ve been lucky enough to get to a team that has a lot of good guys in the locker room.
“They have welcomed me and the coaching staff has also done it in terms of what is expected of me on the field.
“Everything has gone well so far. There are several guys who have helped me a lot.
“The boss, from the first day I came here, he sent me a message and then I came here guys like Glen Kamara, Joe Aribo, Connor Goldson and Jermain Defoe have helped me a lot.
“I am very lucky to play for a team that has many qualities. For me, instead of seeing it as a competition, I am very excited, because when I have the opportunity I have a lot of quality around me. That helps with my confidence.
“Those things take time and hard work, but the director has shown me a lot of video clips and has been telling me what is expected of me.
“Of course I’m playing for a team that has a lot of attacks, but part of my job is to be the safety behind the guys when we lose the ball.”
Zungu has been playing a role in the Rangers’ 20-game unbeaten streak in Scotland’s top flight this season. He revealed he’s gaining his form and confidence ahead of Wednesday’s league trip to St. Mirren.
“I am slowly but surely gaining my confidence and regaining my form,” he added.
“It was clear from day one what they really want from me and they are really helping me in training. I ask a lot of questions to know and grow as a player “.
