South Africa records 89 more deaths from coronavirus, 3,370 cases

South Africa recorded 3,370 more cases of Covid-19 on Friday, bringing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 781,941.

An additional 89 deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 21,378.

Most of the 89 deaths were in the Eastern Cape, where an additional 55 deaths brought the province’s death toll to 4,563, out of a total of 124,067 cases.

Gauteng remains the province with the most cases (30%) and has the highest number of deaths, increasing by three deaths to 5,004.

The Western Cape recorded seven more deaths and 19 were recorded in the Free State.

Five more deaths were reported in KwaZulu-Natal.

The number of recoveries in the country is 722,876.
