Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel may be great rivals on the track, but there has always been great respect between the two multiple champions. The news that Vettel would be joining Aston Martin for 2021 pleased Hamilton greatly.
Hamilton felt that Vettel made the right decision for the next stage of his career. The Brit said: “Honestly, I thought that was the ideal direction I was going to go. I thought it would happen.
“I was very happy to hear it because that team has a new property, it has already taken a big step forward in its performance and it will continue to grow.”
The move certainly benefits both Vettel and Aston Martin. For the latter, it gives you a chance to get back to racing at the front of the grid, compete for podiums, and maybe even win. For the latter, they get an incredibly experienced and talented driver who has been there and done it. Vettel is the best bet to take Aston Martin to the next level.
What Lewis Hamilton thinks Sebastian Vettel can give Aston Martin
Lewis said, “It may be biased, but I think experience counts for a lot. Obviously he has had a bad time at Ferrari. But he’s a four-time world champion who can take that team even further, in a better direction in terms of car development. I think you should never take it for granted. It’s a great move for the team. “
Obviously, Vettel’s inclusion in Aston Martin comes at the expense of Sergio Pérez. The Mexican suddenly finds himself in the same position Vettel was in not so long ago. Checo was not very satisfied with the immediacy of Racing Point’s decision, but Hamilton is backing him to find momentum in F1.

He said, “Of course, I feel sorry for Sergio. But he is a great rider and I am sure he will have other options ”.
Pérez could certainly find a seat at Haas or Alfa Romeo next season. But before leaving Racing Point he would love to get another podium under his belt. Maybe the next race at Mugello could offer you that opportunity?
