Solskjaer dismisses rumors about Manchester United star

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come out and has denied the rumors that have been circulating about the Manchester United star this week.

Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Newcastle United was a much-needed boost for the Red Devils, who had suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat at the hands of José Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur a couple of weeks ago. Goals from Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford were enough to secure the three points. Paul Pogba also had a brilliant cameo after leaving the bank.

Naturally, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be delighted that his big guns are firing in a glamorous tie against Paris Saint-Germain. However, one man missing from the mix was Mason Greenwood.

The teenager was a revelation last season, scoring 17 goals and providing 5 assists. And at the end of the season it seemed that he had managed to establish himself as a starter in the Manchester United team.

However, he was completely out of the squad against Newcastle United. And rumors began to circulate that it was due to disciplinary matters. Solskjaer has been quick to dismiss those rumors.

As reported by ESPN, the Manchester United manager said:

“Where are your sources? That’s what I’m saying.

“I can’t declare medical things, right? We hope it’s just a hassle and we don’t want to take chances with him and hopefully the weekend will be fine again. “

Greenwood hasn’t found things as easy last season as he did last time. In 3 Premier League appearances, he has yet to contribute a goal or an assist. That is understandable though, as he is still only 19 years old and cannot be expected to produce as consistently as older players.

The arrival of Edinson Cavani, however, could significantly reduce his time on the field this season. The Uruguayan has been one of the most prolific scorers in all of Europe for a decade and the Red Devils have not led him to sit on the bench.

So it will be interesting to see how Solskjaer manages Greenwood this season. The technician will be willing not to stop his progress, but there is also no question that he is under immense pressure to produce results. Therefore, it might be difficult for him to choose the teenager over more proven stars.
