Sofia Says She Would Never Quit Like Meghan Markle

Princess Sophia of Sweden, who has reportedly faced press issues similar to Meghan Markle’s, said she would never resign like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle despite ‘stormy years’ after their royal wedding.

The princess said she would not follow the lead of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and resign from the royal family, despite facing similar struggles as they passed.

When asked, in a new documentary for the Swedish TV channel, if she had ever considered doing a royal outing like Meghan and Harry, Sofia responded by saying, “No, not really.”

She went on to say, “I think I’ve found a fantastic balance, and I really see it as positive that I’ve gotten through these stormy years. It’s a huge advantage, as we have a little opportunity to be in both worlds.”

Sofia continued: “Since I became a princess, I have been through many identity crises. Here in South Africa, I have a kind of identity and when I get home I have something else. Here I am allowed to be who I want to be.”

Sharing some facts about her struggles, the former glamor model said she got through some “stormy years” after marrying Prince Carl Philip in 2015.

The “stormy years” could have been a reference to the early years of her relationship with Prince Carl Philip, Sofia said. In the run-up to the couple’s royal wedding, she received criticism after various media outlets published stories and images from her time as a glamorous model and reality TV star.

The Duchess of Sussex has received similar criticism in the years since her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018. Meghan Markle has faced criticism from both the press and anonymous sources with whom she reportedly worked during her time as an actress of TV.

Markle and Harry made an explosive announcement about their resignation from the royal family in January, and their final royal engagements will take place in the spring.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently signed a multi-year deal to produce documentaries, scripted television and family programming for Netflix.
